Super Cool Handmade hats In NYC - 超カッコいいメイドインニューヨークハット

My son goes to a public school in New York City. I love our school community. One of the reasons I love the community is that there are many cool and creative parents who are very involved with the school.

I got an e-mail from the school about a fundraising hat sale at Cha-Cha's House of Ill Repute. I didn't know about the hat brand. I checked their web-site to see what kind of hats they make. I dropped my jaw and I said "OMG! They are my kind of hats!! I love their hats!  I totally see a lot of the Rock spirit in her hats. The designer of  Cha-cha's house of Ill repute, Cha-Cha, (Dina Pisani) is one of the cool parents in our school. Unfortunately, I couldn't make the hat fundraising event but I recognized her at the school yard and introduced myself and told her how beautiful her hats are! She was so nice and friendly, and even invited me to her hat studio! I was so thrilled to be able to see behind the scenes of her shop making cool hats.

Cha-Cha's hat studio is located in the Lower East side of NYC. She began studying the craft of millinery in 1994 under the tutelage of the highly regarded milliner, Anne Allbrizzio. After completing the millinery program at FIT she began designing for private clients.
In August of 2001 she opened her millinery design studio, Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute.  Since then, she has steadily built a unique clientele ranging from NYC to Tokyo to Shanghai. When I visited Japan I saw her hats at one of my favorite hat stores called CA4LA. 
All hats are handmade in New York City with love. See The first and second photo above. She is hand blocking a hat using specially
designed blocks.I have been religiously loving hats over 20 years. I have tried and seen many different kinds of hats. I think her hats are very unique and special.

One of the reasons I love Cha-Cha's house of Ill Repute is the fact that all hats are handmade in NYC, they use very high-quality materials, and are very unique and special designs. I can feel a lot of the Rock spirit in the hats. 

うちの息子は8歳。マンハッタン内にある公立の小学校4年生です。ニューヨークでは公立の学校と言ってもその学校によって様々。うちの息子が通っている小学校は個性的。両親たちも個性派揃いで、そして、みんなで力を合わせて学校のためにチャリティーイベントを開催したりとても結束が固いのです。

３年前、学校からのお知らせで、帽子のサンプルセールチャリティーイベントが開催されるのを知り、主催者のCha-cha's house of Ill reputeというブランドは聞いた事がなかったのですが、帽子好きな私はすぐにどんな帽子を作っているのか調べたところ、ロックな感じでものすごく私の好み！一気にファンになりました。ですが、残念なことにその日はスケジュールが合わずに参加できなかったのですが、後日、Cha-cha's house of Ill reputeのデザイナーも息子が通っている学校の子供の両親の一人と分かり、彼女をお見かけした時に彼女のデザインする帽子に惚れたのを話したところ、快く彼女の帽子を作っているスタジオにお招きいただきました。

デザイナーの方のお名前はDina Pisaniさん。愛称はCha Cha：）彼女は１９９４年ごろから帽子を, Anne Allbrizzioの元で学び、２００１年に Cha Cha’s House of Ill Reputeをスタートしました。彼女の帽子はやっぱりとても魅力的で個性的だから、世界中の有名ミュージシャンが愛用しています。誰が愛用しているのかご興味のある方はこちらを参照くださいね。日本でも、私が帰国するたびにチェックする私の好きな帽子屋さん CA4LAやArthにて彼女の帽子が販売されていますので、一度手にとって見てみてくださいね。ほんまにかっこいいです！彼女の帽子の好きなところは、一つ一つ愛を込めてマンハッタン内のスタジオにて高級素材を使用しハンドメイドで制作されていて、帽子に付いているアクセサリーや羽根も彼女がニューヨーク内のアンティークショップや、マーケットで見つけて来たものを使用しています。そして、彼女がロックな人なので、その個性がよく帽子に反映されていて好き。

私の帽子好きが高じて、去年と今年の5月に２年続けて大阪で開催される　ニューヨークフェアにてMade In NYCの帽子や、ジュエリーを皆さんに手にとってご覧いただけるPop-Up Shopを開催いたしました！
